Special Opportunities
“But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19
It’s great when God supplies your needs; my family and I have gone through times where we’ve felt like we are barely getting by. In contrast, right now we are in a season where we feel so abundantly blessed and loved over and above our needs. We were able to attend a Baptist Fellowship and hear the Pulpit Echoes sing. My kids were able to go to a church camp and make friends, Charlotte and Silas both were surprised by unexpected birthday cupcakes, nearby meetings allowed us to see Niagara Falls and Gettysburg, we’ve been able to see old friends, and we even had a meeting at Melissa’s very first church – Sylvania Hills Baptist Church! While at that church I was asked to preach at a local nursing home between services, which I was happy to do. I found out later it was originally a hospital that was converted into a nursing home, which just so happened to be the hospital Melissa was born in!
Praise for My Kids
“The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him.” Proverbs 23:24
I want to take a moment to praise my kids and let everyone know how proud I am of them. From the time I told them their lives were going to be turned upside down, all the way through every struggle and transition, and now coming up shortly on two months of deputation I have never once heard them complain about their situation. I know it’s difficult for them at times, and I know they have sacrificed a lot, but they’ve taken it like the champs they are.
Bible Thought: Needing God’s Favor
“For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield.” Psalm 5:12
While at a preachers meeting in Massillon, one of the preachers spoke on the need for God’s favor. It was such a good reminder for me because even if I ever manage to have every little thing from scheduling, preaching, ministering, and “family-lifing” down – it won’t amount to much at all without God’s favor.
Looking Forward
“And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.” Deuteronomy 11:19
HOMESCHOOLING! Please pray for my wife and kids as deputation and homeschooling are a challenging combination. Thank you all for your prayers, kindness, and love to me and my family.
Sincerely,
Rick Schworer
