Four Meetings and a Tire Blowout

Our first stop in the month of June was Pastor Stacey Shiflett’s church in Dundalk, MD. It was great seeing so many young people excited for the Lord, and we really enjoyed the fellowship of Pastor Shiflett and his wife after church. After that we headed to This Rock Baptist Church in Etna, OH. Pastor Aaron Cowgill and I first met many many years ago, when he was probably four years old! His family used to go to my old church in Georgia, I met him again at a church in Florida, and they had us in and took us on for support! At Sandy Valley Baptist Temple, Melissa was able to reacquaint with Pastor Sunde and his wife all went to Massillon Baptist College together. Then we enjoyed our time at Cornerstone Baptist in Massillon and felt at home with the church and the pastor. Pastor Sargent and his family spent time in Fiji as missionaries and we found we had a lot in common with them as they are from the West as well.

Somewhere in Ohio one of our rear tires blew. I pulled over immediately, found a place really close off the exit to replace the tire, and limped in there. I didn’t know what to expect as most places a) won’t touch a motorhome, b) if they do work on a motorhome it takes them weeks to do it for all kinds of reasons, and c) charge a ton of money to do anything on a motorhome. Well good ol’ Ziegler tire in smalltown Ohio got us taken care of within a couple hours and charged us much less than I expected. I’m very thankful to the Lord for watching over us.

Greenville, a Providential Noise, and Advanced Missionary and Chaplain Training (AMCT)

After that we headed back to our home church in Greenville, PA (it was good to see everyone again) for an appointment we had previously scheduled for the very next day. It was to take the RV in to get looked at because of a loud and obnoxious rattling noise it had been making for awhile. That rattling persisted even though, in the past month, we had replaced (they needed it) all six tires, brakes on front and back, an alignment, repacked bearings, and then inspecting the ball joints, shocks, and leaf springs. I had no idea what it could be. It ended up being a heat plate, directly in the middle of the RV. Simple fix, but it revealed something bigger that would have never been detected until it was too late, and that was a small leak in the emergency break system. That system is tied into the transmission and uses it’s fluid. Therefore a silent leak would have led to many problems down the road. Once again, praise God for taking care of us!

We headed from Greenville to New Philadelphia, OH for All Point’s AMCT and we always have such a wonderful time there: the sense of comradery, being part of a bigger team, fellowship of people just starting deputation and missionaries on furlough, seeing the chaplains, and being with old friends. A special part of it is seeing my kids have fun with other kids; All Points always makes sure to be a blessing to everyone. With us being at 93%, it’s my prayer that the next AMCT we go to we will be on furlough.

The IFFB Five

In continuing the thread of God taking care of us, we were invited to the International Fellowship of Fundamental Baptists Conference in Orlando and five pastors scheduled meetings with us! Our last meeting in June was the first of those five: Northern Kentucky Baptist Church. We had a great time getting to know the people and pastor Shelling and his wife were very kind to us. Also, the church really treated us with their food bank that included salmon and a birthday cake for me! It was a wonderful time. Next month, we go to the other four IFFB churches. Pray we get that last 7%! Thank you!

In Christ,

Rick Schworer
