Finishing up in Tennessee

We are currently in our final missions conference of deputation! This has been a good month for us in many ways. Conveniently, the four meetings and the missions conference we are currently in were all in Tennessee. We started off the month at New Grace Baptist Church in Bristol and really had a wonderful time there. We arrived on Friday, and on Saturday they had a Fall family festival which included a lot of fun games (including one in which Pastor McCracken was dunked in a water tank multiple times), cake walks, and plenty of opportunities for the Vols fans to abuse the Kentucky fans. We felt very comfortable at the church and really enjoyed the fellowship and preaching.

The next church, Cumberland Hills Baptist, was actually on the Bill Rice Ranch property in Murfreesboro. Did you know Murfreesboro actually has a John R Rice Blvd? It was such a privilege to be able to speak to the BRBC college students about the call of God and following Him by faith. It was also interesting to find out later that Kiera’s husband, Jeremiah, actually worked on the ranch for a summer. The next church was in Friendsville at Hickory Valley Baptist. The pastor told us that the last missionaries that parked at the church got Covid and were stuck there for six months; I’m very glad that didn’t happen to us! The last church was Liberty Baptist in Pleasant View, a suburb of Nashville. We really enjoyed the Sunday School lesson, it reminded us of our own family devotions the way the teacher brought it forth.

Heirloom Seed Summit

Our teens went to the Heirloom Seed Summit again this year and had a wonderful time. It’s essentially a camp for ministry kids – MKs, PKs, EKs. The lessons are focused for the challenges that ministry kids have. I’m really glad our teens had such an enjoyable time and we are very thankful to all the workers involved and for our mission board that has this program.

RV for Sale / Deputation is Done / Future Plans

During the month I was able to take the time and do some work on the RV. I replaced the flooring and fixed a couple of other things that needed attending to. I still have a small list of repairs to do before we try to sell it, with getting the generator running again at the top of the list.

We are now at 100% promised support! Thank you so much for praying for, encouraging and joining with us in our ministry. Any other support is of course still welcomed, as there are a lot of things that can happen over a three year mission term. At this point we thankful to be ending deputation though.

Our upcoming plans are 1) head to our sending church in PA for a month per our pastor’s request, 2) drive to Idaho to get Lily and Charlotte moved in with their grandma (though they will be coming to PNG for the first two months), 3) hand the RV over to a good friend of mine who will sell it for us while we are gone, and 4) fly to Papua New Guinea in November. For that to happen we need our visas, so please pray for them to be approved.

Thank you, once again, for all the kindness you have shown to my family.

In Christ,

Rick Schworer
