Back to Harvest Baptist in Greenville
We left our home church in November of last year, and hadn’t returned until this month. It was good to come back for about two and a half weeks and have some semblance of normalcy. While there Pastor McClain had me teach Sunday School and do the devotional for the men’s prayer breakfast. It was great to see family, and our kids had fun with the cousins and their grandma on the East side of the country (the other one is on the West side)! Charlotte played Yahtzee and Monopoly for the first time and destroyed everyone, and Silas broke his wrist while playing Monkey in the Middle. Our church had a “Friends and Family” special Sunday and we were able to see many new visitors and three people saved as a result of that service.
But right before heading to Greenville, we went to Grace of Calvary Baptist in Erie, PA for their annual Tri-State Fellowship meeting. Wow, it was such a blessing! Such good preaching and fellowship. It was just what I needed. During one sermon Silas pointed to a particular verse in Luke and whispered to his mom, “This is a verse about deputation.” What did that verse say you ask? It said “…Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds…”
Four Meetings
The first meeting we had was at Pastor Tim Perry’s church in Bloomsburg, PA. We stayed up late with his family talking Bible and enjoying great fellowship. The Kane family let us park at their place and were so kind to us. It was great getting to know them. In Slippery Rock, PA we got to see some dear friends of ours and get to know the Lynn family. Charlotte had her 16th birthday on the road, and to be honest it was a little rough for her not having her friends around. Pray for missionary kids, they have to make a lot of sacrifices that sometimes go unnoticed. She’s a tough one though, and I am very thankful for her. In Lake Station we got to meet Pastor Chappel, the preacher behind all the “Weeeeellll GLORY!” videos that pop up in my feed, and the folks at his church. Lastly, what a blessing Grace Community Baptist and Pastor DeKruyter and his family were! We felt like we really connected with them and really enjoyed the fellowship. It is a privilege to be able to present the ministry to so many, and we are so thankful for the blessing of encouragement we get along the way.
Looking Ahead
We got the alignment done on the RV and all four ball joints replaced. She’s now ready for another big trip! We’re already in Tennessee, and will be bouncing around a few states (7 meetings) until the middle of October at which time we’ll be in Texas until the middle of December. Then we’ll be in Florida from then until March. Pray for safety and that there’s no breakdowns! Also, I have a lot of Wednesdays that need scheduling in Florida, please pray I can fill up the calendar for Jan-March.
Lastly, the teens (Lily, Charlotte, and Silas), are headed to the “Heirloom Seed Summit” in the middle of this month. It is described as “A ministry of All Points Baptist Mission for ministry kids. To encourage, challenge and show them how much they are loved!” Pray that all the teens there will be strengthened and encouraged! Our family is our first ministry.
Thank you for your kindness and prayers,
Rick Schworer
