Florida is a Diverse Place!
Our family has always found the study of cultures to be fascinating, and so the deputation road in Florida has been great. We’ve been to places where it doesn’t seem like it can get any more country and rural, to the big city culture and bright lights of Orlando. We’ve met immigrants from all over and people that have lived their entire lives here in Florida. Some things are always the same though: God’s people love missions and they love the Bible. Our number one goal is to be a blessing everywhere we go, and yet we are the ones that are so often blessed.
Forward Operating Base
We are super thankful for Pastor Wilmore and the kind folks at New Life Baptist Church in Leesburg! It is great to be able to have a sort of base of operations, and NLBC has been that for us while in Florida. Leesburg is centrally located between so many meetings, and the fact that they have full RV hookups has been great. It’s great how God works those sort of things out, because staying at an RV park between meetings can get expensive quickly. Pastor Wilmore has a heart for missions and has discussed lots of great ideas with me that he has to use his property to help other missionaries in this manner, including building missionary guest houses. I pray the Lord will make this possible for him as he has been a huge blessing to our family already.
Stuck in North Port
Our need for new tires manifested itself on the way to North Port. Long story short we wound up being there for a week as opposed to the original three days that we had planned. This was great because it gave us more opportunity to get to know the people and the pastor better! The preaching and the fellowship was great, and I was able to glean some things to possibly apply in our future ministry in Papua New Guinea. Also, the kind people in North Port said they believed God had us stranded there for a reason and paid for our new tires!
Looking Forward: Many Missions Conferences!
February is the shortest month of the year, and if Colton were writing this he would want me to remind you that it is also his birthmonth. In addition, God chose to bless us with four missions conferences in this month! We are excited! Please pray that we can be a blessing to all these wonderful folks, and between all the driving, preaching, singing, and everything else that happens that we can keep our energy levels up and no one gets sick. It is such a privilege to visit these churches and share our heart for Papua New Guinea, we want to be at our very best for His glory.
Thank you for your prayers and kindness,
Rick Schworer
